ICED MATCHA LATTE

We live in a small city in rural Romania so our options are limited when it comes to going out for food and drink. Living in NYC for 5 years really spoiled me. I'm so used to getting all kinds of snazzy things without much thought so the lack of restaurant and cafe options has been one of the biggest challenges for me. One of my favorite drinks besides coffee is a good matcha latte. I try to limit myself to only drinking coffee in the mornings and to have matcha, tea, or something of the like in the afternoons. It doesn't always happen because I'm a major coffee lover, but I've become pretty good at whipping up a matcha latte! Now that it's summer time, I enjoy having them iced.

Here is the recipe I use:

1/3 cup boiled water
1 heaping tsp matcha powder
1 tsp local honey
1 cup milk (I love oat or coconut)

The great thing about this is that it can be spiced up a little, depending on what you feel like! I will often add a little Vietnamese Cinnamon to mine, but you can get as creative as you'd like! 

Directions: 

  • In a small bowl, place the matcha powder and honey.

  • Add hot water and whisk together

  • Place matcha mixture and milk in a blender for about 30 seconds (you don't have to use blender, but it will be much more smooth if you do!)

  • Pour over ice and enjoy!
