I wanted to share a few of my favorite tea companies today. With tea being a product that's often affected by human trafficking, it's important to know what to look for and which companies to support. When purchasing tea, you want to think like a holistic consumer - organic and fair/direct trade are always best! With that being said, here are a few of my favorite brands:

Pukka - I discovered Pukka when I was in India. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful packaging, but their commitment to the people and the planet sealed the deal. Their teas are delicious and are Organic, Fair Trade, and Fair Wild certified. Their award winning teas are based on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda -  ‘the art of living wisely.’

Organic India - They are holistic in every sense of the word. Their commitment to respecting the people and the planet involved in their production is outstanding. They practice Biodynamic Organic Farming techniques and focus on sustainability in every aspect of their business.

Traditional Medicinals - With a commitment to quality and sustainability and over 40 years of experience, Traditional Medicinals is an amazing brand of teas and herbal remedies. Their products are non-GMO certified and most hold Organic and Fair Trade certifications as well.

Numi Organic Tea - Numi celebrates people, planet, and pure tea. They value people in every step of the supply chain and ensure fair wages are paid to all. As a result, almost all of their products are certified Fair Trade. Their teas are also certified Organic and the packaging is eco-friendly as they are committed to reducing their impact on the planet.

It's hard to believe that Mother's Day is less than a week away! I love to celebrate my mom and do special things for her when I can. I also love celebrating women in general! I believe women play a vital role in changing the world. I desire to see all girls educated and given equal opportunities. I long to see justice served for those who are abused, enslaved, and disregarded. Women and girls are not inferior creatures, we are human beings. We are worth loving and celebrating.

I hope you'll celebrate the women in your life by empowering other women through your consumer choices. I put together a last minute gift guide to help make your shopping easier. The companies making them are improving economies, impacting the long-term sustainability and development of countries, and are most importantly giving individuals jobs that reflect dignity, value, love, and for many, a second-chance.

There is an app for just about everything these days! I have found they make life so much easier - especially when you're trying to live intentionally. It can be hard to know where to go or what to buy when you're shopping or trying to find a restaurant, but apps help to streamline this process with all of their useful information. I have put together a list of some of my go-to apps that make it possible to live an ethical, sustainable lifestyle.

  • Think Dirty (Shop Clean) - This app empowers ingredient-conscious consumers to choose the safest beauty and personal products. It gives you easy-to-understand information on products, their ingredients, and cleaner options.
  • Skin Deep - Produced by EWG, it's the world's largest safety reference tool for personal-care products. To calculate a product score, they tally the hazards of each ingredient and evaluate every product in relation to all the others in Skin Deep®.
  • Good Guide - Allows you to find safe, healthy, green, and socially responsible products based on scientific ratings.
  • Food Scores - Also produced by EWG, this app is a great way to see how healthy the food you eat really is. Three factors are taken into consideration: Nutrition, Ingredient Concerns, and Degree of Processing.
  • Find Me Gluten Free - This is perfect for those of us with Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance. It's a life saver when you're in a new neighborhood or city and you have no idea what your options are! It's complete with ratings, reviews, and advice from other users.
  • Poshmark - An app for buying and selling clothing and accessories. It gives you the platform to shop other people's closets and as a result, reduces our environmental and slavery footprint.
